Charlie Watts

Charlie Watts was born in London in 1941 and played drums for the Rolling Stones from January 1963 until his death in August 2021, 58 years in the band. A lifelong jazz fan, he also led his own groups, among them the Charlie Watts Quintet and the Charlie Watts Tentet. “Hit Me in the Head”, on Foreign Tongues (2026), comes from one of his last recording sessions.
