First, your headphones
Put your headphones on. You’ll hear three sounds. Pick the one that’s quietest.
Set your volume
Turn your device volume down first. Then play the tone and raise the volume until it sounds soft but clear. Don’t change it again until the end.
Beeps will play in one ear. Move the slider left until you can only just hear them, then go on.
Your preset
The curve boosts, gently and by up to 6 dB, the bands where you needed more level, in your headphones. Pick your equalizer app and copy or download the preset.
Equalizer APO (Windows)
Paste it into config.txt, or into a Peace “Import” box. It keeps a separate curve for each ear.
Wavelet (Android)
Wavelet can import AutoEq’s GraphicEQ format: use its import option with this text. It uses one curve for both ears.
Poweramp Equalizer (Android)
Poweramp Equalizer can import AutoEq’s parametric format: save this as a .txt and import it. It uses one curve for both ears.
eqMac (Mac)
Set the ten sliders of the basic equalizer to these values.
iPhone and iPad don’t allow a system-wide custom equalizer. Apple’s own Headphone Accommodations, under Accessibility, is the closest option there.
