Dawes

Dawes is a folk rock band from Los Angeles, formed in 2009 by Taylor Goldsmith, his younger brother Griffin, the bassist Wylie Gelber and the keyboardist Tay Strathairn after their earlier band, Simon Dawes, broke up. Their debut, North Hills (2009), was produced by Jonathan Wilson, who came back for their sixth album, Passwords (2018). Gelber and the keyboardist Lee Pardini left in 2023, and the band is now the two brothers with touring players; their ninth studio album, Oh Brother, came out in October 2024.

Dawes Passwords

Dawes made their sixth album in a rushed two weeks with Jonathan Wilson and put the darkest songs first. The opening holds up; the long, mellow run after it doesn't.
