Preview: POP.1280 - The Horror

Sacred Bones will release the debut full-length from the aggressive rock band, Pop.1280 on January 24th. The LP is titled The Horror, and its first single, "Bodies In The Dunes", makes it quite clear that the album name is appropriate.

Following one year from their much loved EP, The Grid, The Horror explores new territory and perversions for the band made up of chief songwriters Chris Bug and Ivan Lip and the joining drummer Zach Ziemann (ex-Twin Stumps) and bassist/sonic manipulator Pascal Ludet.

The new album was recorded at the Python Patrol basement studios in Brooklyn with engineer Ben Greenberg (Z's, Pygmy Shrews) and boasts more improvisation and in-studio writing. Things are much darker, though, the band hasn't lost the synth-punk vibe that earned comparisons to Pussy Galore, D.A.F, and Cop Shoot Cop. The Horror does feature longer songwriting explorations and psychedelic-scapes that reference bands like Cabaret Voltaire, Chrome, and early Sonic Youth.
