Flaming Lips Collaborate with Yoko Ono

I love the Flaming Lips despite the many weird things that they do – musically and professionally. However, I can't get behind their recent decision to work with the vocally challenged Yoko Ono, even if it's just one song. And it's a Christmas song, no less!

Performing as the Yoko Ono Plastic Ono Band, the project will record a version of "Atlas Eets Christmas", originally released by the Lips in 2007 on a secret Christmas album. Making matters worse, the Plastic Ono Band will perform "Happy Xmas [War is Over]" at the New Year's Freak Out No. 5 in Oklahoma city on December 21.

I can't understand the Lips decision to work with Ono when their instruments are already capable of producing the squelching noises that Ono's vocal chords allow. Now fans will have to suffer an appearance of Ono on stage looking like a dude from a David Lynch movie with her creepy glasses and boyish haircut. Just give us hard drives encased in gummy skulls or vaginas, guys!

Enjoy this video below and tell me if you think this is a good idea.
