Don't Blow Your Cover: Austra - "Crying" (Roy Orbison Cover)

'Don't Blow Your Cover' lets you determine whether a band breathes new life into an older, established song

In this edition, Austra covers Roy Orbison's "Crying".

The Original - "Crying" by Roy Orbison (1961)

Fun Facts:

  • "Crying" peaked at Number 2 on the US Billboard.

  • Roy Orbison's career was given a shot in the arm in the '80s thanks to David Lynch using the Orbison track "In Dreams" in the film Blue Velvet.

  • Elvis Presley and U2's Bono have both stated that Orbison had one of the greatest and most distinctive voices in music.

Toronto six piece Austra released their debut album Feel It Break earlier this year. Their electro/operatic cover of Orbison's "Crying" appears on the just released (Nov. 29) deluxe edition of their debut album.
